Well, “soon” is a relative term, but we have received and submitted our annual order form for the new edition. Judging from past years, we should be taking delivery in late January / early February, so check this site from time to time and we’ll post again as soon as they arrive.
New Release: Medical Moulage
“Simple recipes with over 1,200 vibrant, full-color illustrations provide step-by-step directions that use readily available ingredients.”
It sounds like a description of a cookbook, and perhaps in some ways, it is – but to be clear, this is a quote from the back cover of Medical Moulage :How to Make Your Simulations Come Alive.
Medical moulage is the practice of creating anatomical molds and mock injuries – dating back at least as far back as the Renaissance, and currently used to train EMTs and other medical and military personnel. (And presumably, in a less serious mission, to make realistic special effects for theatre and film.) If you’re interested, there’s a website for the Zurich Museum of Moulage at http://www.moulagen.ch/Typolight/index.php. (But be prepared for what you’ll be seeing – even fake wounds aren’t pretty.)
A specialized and fascinating field, but one without much supporting text until now. Medical Moulage :How to Make Your Simulations Come Alive is currently available in store or you can order it for delivery to your door through our virtual bookstore.
WebSpins: Auto updates on the newest releases
Would you like to be able to keep constantly up to date on the newest books and software related to your specific fields of interest? WebSpins is a service available through our Virtual Bookstore that delivers lists of just that information to your email inbox on a monthly basis.
Simply drop by the Health Sciences Virtual Bookstore and click on the WebSpins icon on the right side of the page. After registering your email address, you’ll be taken to a list of over 300 topics -from Allergies and Acupuncture to Tropical and Veterinary Medicines- each with a checkbox to declare your interest.
Topics aren’t limited to medical subjects either. If you have a passion for photography or astronomy, or want to read up on travel or current events, there’s a box for that too. (A friendly warning, though – don’t cast too wide a net at first. These collections are extensive, and if you choose too many topics, you may end up with a list some 2000 titles long, as I did.)
Once you’ve selected your topics, you can immediately review the most recent listings. Click on a title and you’ll be taken to a synopsis and expected release date, and if you’d like a copy, you can either call us at the bookstore to bring one in for you, or purchase online for a direct delivery to your door as soon as the title is released.
Every month, a new list will appear in your email, and you can review the existing list, modify your selections, or unsubscribe at any time.
WebSpins makes it genuinely easy to stay abreast of the latest publications.
