While most of the titles featured in this blog are the product of large, commercial publishers, occasionally we also have a chance to call attention to works whose origins are a little closer to home.
Brushing Up On Mouth Care is the result of a Dalhousie University research project into oral health for adults -frail or suffering from dementia- in long-term care and depending on others for their daily needs. There’s much more information on the project here (as well as a wealth of related print resources), but a here’s a quick outline of the DVD package…
“This series of educational videos focuses on personal daily mouth care for older adults. Many older adults experience a decline in physical and mental health as they age. This often leaves them dependent on others to assist them with their personal care needs.
There are five learning modules in this series that relate to various aspects of providing daily mouth care.
- Oral Health Basics
- Brushing Techniques & Oral Health Products
- Considerations for Dementia
- Considerations for Palliative Care
- Oral Health Assessment”
(As we say, there’s much more information at the project website.)
