This winter, we’re lucky to have two Dietetic Interns on the team to help out in the dining halls and put on great events! Learn a little more about Andrea and Heather, and say hi if you see them around!
Andrea is the community dietetic intern from Mount Saint Vincent University on her first internship placement! She will be involved in planning student engagement events, writing content for the Eat Smart Newsletter, Feedback Fridays, social media engagement, and working behind the scenes on signs and research to make sure you have the best dining experience possible! Andrea’s interests in the nutrition field are helping people form healthy relationships with food, understanding how our food systems work, and sustainability.
A few fun facts about Andrea include:
- Her favourite food is popcorn!
- Favourite hobbies are gardening, embroidery, and hiking
- She is from Northern BC and transferred to MSVU three years ago
- Spanish is one of her first languages
- She loves brewing her own kombucha in her spare time
Andrea is looking forward to getting to know the students and enhancing their nutrition knowledge – so if you see her in the dining hall please say hi!
Heather is completing her final placement with Dalhousie Food Services as an administrative intern. She’s involved in food safety, sustainability activities, and ensuring all of our menu signage in the dining hall is accurate. Heather is graduating this May and is excited to see what her future career will bring. She loves to explore all areas of nutrition and is always excited to talk about food trends and the role of food in overall health.
Heather fun facts:
- Her favourite food is sandwiches in all of their shapes and forms!
- In her spare time she loves to relax, play board games, and bake
- She is from Oakbank, Manitoba and has lived in NS for 11 years now!
- She has a cute cat named Spice
