In honour of the month of love, show your ocean and wildlife some care by looking out for the Sustainable Fish label on our menus in the dining hall!
This label identifies seafood that has been sustainably sourced. We always choose third-party certified sustainably sourced seafood whenever possible- and continue to push our suppliers to have more sustainable options.
We are a MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified establishment and preferentially get product with that certification. We also will choose items with other certifications if MSC isn’t available. For example the salmon we source is OceanWise certified.
What is MSC?
The Marine Stewardship Council is a global non-profit organization, which protects wild seafood by working with fisheries, grocery stores, restaurants, and food service organizations like ours. Their purpose is to prevent overfishing and safeguard supplies for generations to come, keep our oceans healthy, confront food fraud, support the livelihoods of fishing communities, and ensure the purchasing of sustainable, traceable, wild seafood is easy for consumers.
Practicing sustainability in the dining halls is one of our top priorities. Therefore, we have ensured our dining halls are an MSC certified location. Being MSC certified means we use the best practices and upmost due diligence to ensure the product is tracked from the moment it is delivered to the moment it is served on your plates. We’re making the sustainable choice the easy choice for you! #feelgoodseafood
