Minimal Circulation Services Available

Due to renovations in the Kellogg Circulation Dept., the Kellogg Library will be on reduced hours from January 2-6, 2008. During this time, there will be minimal circulation services, i.e. the Reserve collection, Dalcard deposits and Dalcard printing will not be available. We are sorry for any convenience this may cause.

Photo Exhibit of Old Halifax Infirmary

A photo exhibition on display at the Kellogg Library shows the last days of the old Halifax Infirmary. Just prior to demolition in 2005, photographer Angela Carlsen was allowed access to the building for just two hours. Donning a hard hat, she was able to capture remnants of the once-thriving hospital in a series of colour photos that illustrate its last dying days. She loaned the framed photos to the Kellogg Library for the exhibition.

New Linking Features for PubMed

Starting Monday 17 December 2007 a new and more complete linking service will be replacing our current full text links in PubMed. The new service will display the “GetIt@Dal button” (seen below) on every citation and will take users to all full text options as well as a range of other services like: direct searching in Novanet, direct links to Document Delivery forms, links to Refworks and more.
To activate this new service we will be replacing our current PubMed URL on our website with a new address. For users who prefer to access the Dalhousie customized version of PubMed by bookmark rather than coming to our web site, remember to add this new URL to you list of Bookmark Favourites:

Library Renovations

The Kellogg Library will be undergoing some renovations in the Learning Commons and Circulation areas starting Wednesday 12 December 2007. Part of the Learning Commons will have to be closed for the period leading up to Christmas. Painting, electrical and carpentry work may cause some interruption in our normal service and some noise.
Our apologies for the inconvenience during this period.
