PLEASE! We want a microwave in the dining hall!! All other universities have a microwave in the dining hall. I want to be able to melt cheese onto my fries or make myself a quesadilla…. I don’t want to have to take food out of the cafeteria illegally to make it in my own microwave in my room. We NEED a microwave. That is a basic ask… so please!!!!!!
Thanks for your feedback! This has been passed along to the management team from Food Services for consideration. We really appreciate the suggestion!
Hi Noelle,
I’m working on this request! Stay tuned.
Hello! I really expect to see Chinese cuisine! There are many kinds of wonderful delicious international foods, but as a big group of students, Chinese also miss their hometown favor. Is it possible to add some in Shirreff, such as Chinese style stewed fish, Sauteed cabbage, Braised pork belly in brown sauce, and hot and sour potato shreds. They are all easy to be made and absolutely delicious! Thank you if you take my suggestion, I’d be very appreciated!
Thanks Lisa! These suggestions have been passed along to our chef and the Food Services management team. Those dishes certainly do sound delicious!
Hi Lisa,
We are always looking for exciting recipes and ideas to showcase flavors and cultures from around the world. If you would like to talk with us more about recipes you’d like to see- we can try them out in an upcoming themed dinner night in Sherriff Hall. Email me at dietitian@dal.ca and I can connect you with the culinary folks to plan for some new recipes!
Hello there, I am celiac and dairy intolerant, and I find that the options at dinner are very limited. Usually something will be gluten free but not dairy free and vice versa. I would love to see more gluten free options around as well, such as pasta, rice and quinoa instead of couscous (gluten), barley etc. Also if you could include lactose free / dairy free yogurt, that would be absolutely amazing. I find it hard to get a well balanced breakfast in the morning, and yogurt that i can eat would be very helpful. Lastly, when making lunch and dinner dishes with meat, chicken fish etc, I find that a lot of the time it is made with dairy which makes it hard to get adequate protein in my meals because it is contaminated with gluten or dairy. Thank you for your consideration.
Hi there! This has been passed along directly to the Food Services team so they can action your suggestions if possible! Thank you so much for your feedback.
Hi Hallie,
I have celiac disease with limited dairy intolerance too and understand the challenge. If you’d like to meet to discuss options I’ve got lots of tips, tricks, and advice to give on how to eat well on campus every day.
Also- good news! As of this week and for the rest of term- we have dairy free cultured coconut yogurt available in our dairy alternatives fridges! I’m doing special “tasting pop ups” all week in each of the halls to introduce it but you can enjoy it anytime!
