Our Topics this semester are:

Making Career Connections (with special guest): Tuesday, October 8 @2:30pm

Resumes for IM Professionals: Tuesday, October 29 @2:30pm

Leveraging LinkedIn: Tuesday, November 5 @2:30pm

These PPD sessions are facilitated by Robert Wooden from Management Career Services (MCS) and are customized for and restricted to MLIS students.  Both first and second year students will benefit from these sessions.

RSVP is required. Log onto my.dal.ca and access the myCareer system (located under the Quick Links Section of the main page).  Once in myCareer, access the Events Calendar from your dashboard  and register for these PPD sessions. Want to hone  your interview skills?  Please, read on!

We are seeking three MLIS students to be interviewed by a small panel of Library/Information Management Professionals.  While this interview takes place, a staff member from Management Career Services will provide written feedback on screen as the interview progresses. This written feedback will be provided to the interviewee after the conclusion of the event.

This is an amazing learning opportunity for audience members and even more so for the student being interviewed!  Upon conclusion of each interview, a debrief will be held with the interview panel and the interviewee, allowing for the student to receive honest and professional feedback that will help them improve their interview skills.

January 19 – CV vs Resume – What’s the difference?

January 26 – Cover Letter Success (offered Nov 17 but being re-offered due to low attendance)

February 2 – Effective Interviewing

March 8 – Effective Interviewing: Live Demonstration (we will be looking for 3 students to be interviewees soon)

This is a reminder that our next PPD will be on October 27 and we will be looking at Effective Resumes for IM Professionals.  This  90 minute session will fly as we cover so much concerning crafting an effective resume.

You must bring a hard copy (no laptops please) of your current resume to fully participate in this PPD.

Anyone participating in the Ottawa Federal Government Tour is strongly advised to attend.
