Hello,
I am a student at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and I have approached the adminstration here to hold a similar campaign. I am wondering if you could send me some more information on how this campaign works from the library’s perspective. For example, It would be helpful to know how much food you typically collect and how much financial “loss” the library absorbs though this initiative.
Any information and support that you can offer to get this program running here at Lakehead is greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Jody Mitchell

Hi Jody,
Thanks for contacting us about Food For Fines. We’ve been running the campaign at the Dal Libraries since 2001 and it’s been hugely successful, with more participants every year.
In 2008 we collected a total of 868 food items and waived $2023 in fines. Please contact me directly if you’d like more details–Tina.Usmiani@dal.ca. I’m always happy to talk about this!
Cheers,
Tina
