Herman Atienza—V.P. of Ramcar Batteries,  Manila, Philippines (retired) is an entrepreneur, business leader, and government official.

Mr. Atienza has had vast experience in various ventures in the business world:

  • He has served as the VP of Marketing and Sales for Ramcar batteries in Manila Philippines during which he oversaw growth of 140% in his first 6 years, and 850% in his last 7 years.
  • Hermen worked for the Philipine Freeport, the Government department responsible to attracting foreign investment, and overseeing 1000 businesses locally.

Health Libraries – is there a career in your future?

DJIM Launch October 26

The Dalhousie Journal of Interdisciplinary Management executive invites you to join in the fun as they launch another issue during Open Access Week 2012.

Join us as we publish Vol. 8, no. 2 and celebrate the 8th year of DJIM as an open-access journal! Some authors from Vol. 8 nos. 1 & 2 will be present to talk briefly about their papers and their experience with DJIM. Refreshments will be provided.

When: Friday, October 26 — 12-1pm
Where: Room 3089, 3rd floor, Kenneth C. Rowe Management Building

Following the launch, there will be a grant-writing workshop presented by the Halifax Library Association, School of Information Management Student Association, and the Dalhousie Journal of Interdisciplinary Management. Stay tuned for more information about the workshop in the coming weeks.

Alumni survey due Oct 14

Hello Dalhousie SIM Graduate,

I am Dr. Ann Curry, and I’m contacting you in my role as a member of the American Library Association’s accreditation panel (External Review Panel) reviewing the MLIS program for the School of Information Management at Dalhousie University. It is important that the External Review Panel gather information about the program from as many alumni as possible, including those who may not be able to attend the forum held at the University during the Panel’s visit October 13-16. If you could take a few moments to respond to the questions below, it would be very helpful to us. MLIS student receives media coverage for research

Congratulations to Riel Gallant, a MLIS student, who received media coverage for a recent talk he gave about research he completed for a History of the Book course project supervised by Dr. Bertrum MacDonald. Riel spoke about his study on the prominent Buote family, printers and publishers in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Prince Edward Island. This publishing firm was an important contributor to a renaissance in Acadien culture in eastern Canada. Riel’s research uncovered new information about the firm, including documentation about a patent for an innovative proof press. His presentation to the Musée acadien de l’Ile-du-Prince-Éduard à Miscouche was reported in La Voix Acadienne.
