The Word on the Street Halifax is this Saturday and SIM has a booth! Whether you just came from El Jones’s poetry reading or are on your way to hear about strange Nova Scotia folklore from Vernon Oickle, stop by and say “hi” to SIM staff at the Front Plaza (map here) of the Central Library.

Over the summer, our alumni have been busy! Three of them, in fact, have added exciting new chapters to their career lives:
You won’t find Jennifer Adams (MLIS ’02) at the Dunn Law Library anymore, but thankfully she hasn’t gone too far. As of June 20th, she’s moved on to King’s College as the University Librarian. Congratulations, Jennifer!
Also taking on the position of University Librarian, but a bit further afield at St. Francis Xavier University, is Lawrence (Lou) Duggan (MLIS ’00). You’ll be missed at the Patrick Power Library (SMU), Lou, but we know you are up to the challenge! Lou started his new position at St. FX on August 1st.
And speaking of St. FX, Suzanne van den Hoogen (MLIS ’09), of the Angus L. Macdonald Library, has been named president of the Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA). APLA is in good hands, as Suzanne will serve a three-year term and promote the interests of the Atlantic Provinces libraries at both regional and national levels.
