I would like to thank the SIM Associated Alumni for organizing a very successful and enjoyable Awards reception last night to welcome the 2011 Alumna of the Year, Margaret Murphy, the Nova Scotia Legislative Librarian. Ms. Murphy shared valuable words of wisdom with SIM students; naturally, I was very happy when she said that all MLIS students should take cataloguing 🙂
Thanks are due, also, for the invaluable work done by the SIM administrative team of Shanna Balogh, Jenn Cox, and JoAnn Watson, without whom such events would be impossible.
The event is a wonderful opportunity to meet our alumni, who are always so gracious and generous in their support of SIM and our students; furthermore, it enables current students to meet their future professional colleagues.
The SIM Associated Alumni Awards (A3) are an important mark of recognition for those who have gone before as well as being a source of encouragement, enlightenment and edification for students at the threshold of their own careers.
Margaret Murphy generously gave of her time and expertise for MLIS students enrolled in Legal Literature & Librarianship course last fall demonstrating a personal and professional commitment to continous learning.
It’s excellent that SIM hosts these important events.
Thanks for your comments, Paul. We are truly fortunate at SIM to have such outstanding and supportive alumni.
