Two of the three elevators in the Killam Library have been out of commission for some time. The good news is that the repairs are scheduled to begin at the end of October. The elevators are expected to be complete by the end of March 2015. The mechanical parts are being completely replaced and the interiors of the cabs are being refurbished, including new lighting and accessibility features, such as the elevator “talking” to announce each floor arrived at.

Once elevators 2 and 3 are replaced, elevator 1 will be upgraded.

In the meantime, should anything happen to elevator 1, we have a commitment from the elevator repair company that they will be here within an hour to fix it should it break down. We apologize for the inconvenience the lack of elevators have caused, and we’re looking forward to having all three elevators in working condition.
