There will be considerable construction both in and around the Kellogg Health Sciences Library over the next year. The changes will address student requests for more and better group study space.
* This August and September 2009, the Kellogg Library in the Tupper Building will be undergoing renovations on the second floor of the library. 13 new tutorial/group study rooms are being built in the library. The rooms are needed to replace Faculty of Medicine tutorial rooms that will be
unavailable this coming academic year due to renovations in the Tupper Link.
* Space in the library’s 2nd floor administrative and technical services area is being reassigned to create a new classroom. Dates are yet to be confirmed for this construction.
* Because of the renovations, Kellogg Document Delivery will be relocated from its office immediately adjacent to the Tupper Link, to offices on the 2nd floor of the library.
* Journal collections for the years prior to 1985 have been moved to off site storage. Our paper journal collection is now low use with the robust growth in our electronic journal collections. Moving backruns off site has freed up more study space in what had become pretty cramped quarters.
Since the Kellogg abuts the link, a project of this scale will bring some noise and disruption into the library. Throughout this process we will maintain regular hours and services.
This is a preliminary announcement, with more information to follow. Please let me know any concerns you may have regarding the renovations. We appreciate your understanding and patience!

The renovations sound great – can’t wait to see how it all turns out! I hope everything goes smoothly.

I think it’s a bit confusing that this post is tagged with “Killam Learning Commons” when that appears to be a completely unrelated topic. Thanks.
