Dept. of English Prof. J.A. Wainwright will celebrate the publication of his latest novel The Confluence with a book launch at the Killam.
The Confluence (Mosaic Press, March 2007) is the story of Kate Bradley, who is haunted by the loss of her father in a wild British Columbia river and takes up residence in a remote part of France; of Alain Auberjean, a concert violinist who believes his father was a Resistance hero executed by the Nazis; and of the elderly and mysterious Madeleine Serault who fought with the Maquis during World War Two and now tries to protect a troubling secret in a small French village.
J.A.Wainwright is McCulloch Professor in English at Dalhousie University, and has previously published five books of poetry and two novels. A Deathful Ridge: a Novel of Everest was shortlisted for the Boardman-Tasker Prize in Mountain Literature in 1998.
Wainwright will be introduced by poet Peter Sanger, and there will be a reception afterwards at which copies of his book will be available for purchase. All are welcome! Please phone 494-3615 for more information.
