The Information Without Borders Conference is a student-led initiative by the School of Information Management at Dalhousie University. This one-day event provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion on a central topic affecting all professions represented at Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management.
IWB was designed to: facilitate networking and communication among students, faculty, and professionals; provide a forum for information pertaining to this year’s conference topic; promote interaction among schools in the Faculty of Management and other Dalhousie departments; allow students to develop skills; and encourage students to present their current research. This year’s theme is Evolving Professions: Working within the Information Economy.

The Ecology Action Centre is seeking a Records Management Educator to work with us to design and deliver a records management lunch & learn for our staff. The Records Management Educator will be responsible for the following tasks:
Time Commitment: Approximately 12 hours total during December 2012 – January 2013

SIM and the Centre for Advanced Management Education (CFAME) are organizing a drive to support Phoenix House, a Halifax-based, non-profit organization whose mandate is to offer at-risk and homeless youth (ages 12 – 24) the opportunity to break the cycle of homelessness and find a better path. Donation boxes will be placed in the front offices of SIM and CFAME until early to mid-December. Please see the Phoenix House holiday wish list for suggested donations.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Undergraduate degree, strong information literacy skills, and above average written and verbal communication skills are required for this position. Previous experience teaching or marking will be an asset. Preference will be given to current graduate students in the Faculty of Management.

The Dalhousie School of Information Management (SIM) seeks a dynamic and innovative colleague to join our team. The School (http://sim.management.dal.ca) offers two graduate programs and contributes to a collaboratively-delivered undergraduate program. At the graduate level, SIM offers the American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program, and the mid-career blended learning Master of Information Management (MIM) program. At the undergraduate level, the School provides core and elective courses in the Bachelor of Management program, notably in the Knowledge Management major. The School also participates in Dalhousie’s Interdisciplinary PhD program.

Position Summary
The Enterprise Content Management Process Owner (ECMO) is the champion of the implementation and adoption of ECM throughout ISI. The ECMO is responsible for the collection, integrity, and preservation of the Information assets within ISI.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop, maintain, and ensures adherence to a content governance model for the usage and management of the ECM environment. This includes but is not limited to:
Develop the strategy and roadmap for the deployment of ECM.
Identify appropriate business owners and Record Points-of-Contact who manage information sources. Works with these individuals to implement the Document & Records Management Policies.
Lead a team of Content and Process Analysts who support the business processes by automating Information process flows.
Approve all policies and procedures related to ECM regarding the collection, retention, communication and disposition of documents and operational records.
Identify appropriate Information Technology (IT) resources to provide operational support for ECM.
Create an effective support system with proper channels of escalation for end users of the ECM environment.
Establishes role definition for all those involved in the ECM processes
Ensure the appropriate functional User Support & Training is available to ensure the effective use of the ECM suite of tools.
Knowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements:
