SIM wishes to congratulate incoming MI student, Pallavi Gone, on her 2nd place win at the ShiftKey Labs Virtual Reality Ocean Challenge! On January 17th, participants were asked to provide solutions addressing ocean issues. They were given three weeks to develop software and ideas were presented to a judges panel on February 6th.
Pallavi’s project, called “Care for Ocean” is focused on improving ocean literacy by teaching young children about oceans through a virtual-reality game platform. A team of 3 students was assigned to the idea, but they were not able to continue due to academic commitments, so Pallavi took on the project and the presentation on her own.
As she said: “I was very passionate and confident about my idea and wanted to develop it on my own without a team. The head of ShiftKey Labs encouraged me by saying ‘a good entrepreneur will never let obstacles stop them from taking the things to the end’.”
