On Monday, May 30th, members of the SIM Alumni Association gathered at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax for their Annual General Meeting. Attendance was strong and the mood positive as the past year’s accomplishments were reviewed.
Dr. Sandra Toze (SIM Director) presented some proposed MLIS program changes, Marianne Hagen (Alumni Officer, Faculty of Management) welcomed new members, and important governance business was conducted.
The 2016-2017 Executive are as follows:
- Chair – Sarah Visintini
- Vice Chair – Shelley McKibbon
- Past Chair – Lou Duggan
- Member at Large – Craig Olsvik
- Programme Convenor – Leah Boulos
- Secretary/Treasurer – vacant. There is no budget or bank account. Secretary duties will be handled by the Chair and Vice Chair.
Special thanks go to outgoing Chair, Lou Duggan, for his outstanding leadership during the past year.
Upcoming SIMAA initiatives include Orientation events (SIMAA Chair welcome, Associations display), the SIMConnect Program kickoff (a new form of the previous CLA professional partners program), and the Welcome Reception & Outstanding Alumni Award Presentation (taking place September 29th at 5:30pm, Room 3087, Kenneth C. Rowe Building, Dalhousie). Keep an eye on the SIM website for all alumni events and announcements.
