Please join us in congratulating Ben!
A $750 bursary honouring Saskatchewan public library pioneer E. Marion Sherman was awarded on November 15, 2014 to Dalhousie University student Ben Worth.
The Marion Sherman Bursary for Children’s Librarians was created to honour Mrs. Sherman, a library pioneer, who was the Chairman of the Wapiti Regional Library for thirty-three (33) years, 1951-1984.
Marion Sherman (1908-1988) of Prince Albert believed that children’s librarianship is a crucial aspect of Saskatchewan public library service. The Marion Sherman Bursary aims to encourage library science students to study children’s librarianship.
Mr. Worth completed his Bachelor of Media Arts degree at Emily Carr University prior to moving to Dalhousie University where he is currently enrolled in the 2-year Master of Library and Information Science program. In his application, Ben wrote eloquently about the value of literacy and children’s librarianship in the Saskatchewan context.
