This is a 2 year term position.
Your Challenge
NRC Knowledge Management delivers information and intelligence services that strengthen NRC’s critical decisions, provide maximum business value from all information that NRC acquires and creates, and leverages those services to benefit the wider Canadian innovation community.
The Information Officer contributes to NRC’s strategic knowledge integration through systematic monitoring of scientific, technological, industrial and/or business information in critical and priority areas for NRC, and supports research, analysis, and dissemination of scientific, technical, business and industry information gathered from primary and secondary sources.
Under the general supervision of the Knowledge Management Lead or Team Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to contribute at the forefront of innovation by managing and performing quality assurance on data used in the delivery of strategic patent, scientific and technical analysis projects or major significance for NRC, its partners and clients, while developing and documenting data management procedures, policies and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency in data management practices.
Using your background as an Information Specialist and your experience with metadata, name authorities and thesaurus maintenance, you will import data into NRC-KM’s data analysis tools, mapping data from various information sources to ensure interoperability, perform a diversity of data management functions as well as participate in data categorization processes and tasks in collaboration with our Strategic Information Analysts.
You will also have the opportunity to: collaborate with NRC-KM groups on various projects, such as analysis tools evaluation; conduct systematic monitoring of scientific, technical and business information, organized on a collaborative platform; assist with information gathering tasks.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates.
Education
Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science.
Preference may be given to candidates with a preceding Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business related areas.
Experience
Experience in the provision of scientific, technical and business information services.
Experience in searching, collecting and extracting information and data from online systems and the Web.
Experience in database management, data mapping and/or data manipulation.
Experience with name matching and/or name authorities.
Language Requirements
Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB
Salary Range
From $59,222 to $66,912 per annum plus the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 a year.
