Hello, everyone! Dalhousie CLA hopes that January is off to a great start for you. Here is just a quick update to let you know about some of the upcoming events of interest for the coming month or so.
If you haven’t already met with your mentor this month, we encourage you to contact them! Why not check to see if they would be available for a job shadow? Shadowing your mentor is a valuable way to observe professional practices and behaviour as well as the practical application of some of the theoretical concepts discussed in class. No matter the activity, please do touch base with your mentor this month to make plans for your next meeting.
Upcoming Events:
Mentors and mentees looking to attend a career-related activity together, this year’s Information Without Borders conference is taking place on Thursday, February 13 and is well worth a look! The 2014 theme is “Privacy, Security, and Surveillance: Developments and Challenges in the Information Age.”
The remaining Dal CLA event to mark on your calendar for this year is the PMP Wrap Up Party, currently set for the evening of Wednesday, March 19. More details will be provided as the date approaches.
For students, there are two upcoming Personal/Professional Development sessions that we strongly encourage you to attend:
- CV or Resume – January 28th, 11:30-12:30 in Rowe 3089
- Effective Interviewing – February 11th, 4:00-5:30 in Rowe 3089
These sessions are put on by Management Career Services and are a great way to refine your professional skills before venturing out into the workforce.
