We hope that you are all enjoying December and some well-deserved holiday time!
Don’t forget to touch base with your PMP mentor this month! December can be tricky as people are often travelling. If you are both in town, consider meeting up for a visit or for a resume review. If you’re out of town, we encourage you to contact your mentor to start making plans for a January meeting.
Upcoming Events:
Mentors and mentees, on January 15th, Madeleine Lefebvre (Chief Librarian at Ryerson University) will give the first annual Dalhousie Horrocks public lecture in Rowe 3089. SIM student Alison Froese-Stoddard will also be presented with the first Dalhousie Horrocks National Leadership Award that evening. This would be a great event to attend together! More details can be found here.
Also note that Dal CLA is in the process of planning a PMP group event for late January (trivia night!). Thanks to everyone who completed our date survey. We will email all PMP participants with more details about this event very soon!
Mentees, we encourage you to take advantage of the various professional development events that are being offered at SIM this January! Management Career Services is offering two PPD sessions (Cover Letter Success and CV or Resume? Considering an Academic Career) on January 14th and January 28th, respectively. There will also be a Brown Bag Lunch on January 24th on Advice from Alumni for Finding Work after Graduation. These are great opportunities to supplement your in-class learning and to get some helpful advice on career preparation.
To keep tabs on other upcoming events throughout the year, please visit the SIM Events Calendar.
We would like to encourage all PMP participants to get in touch with the Dalhousie CLA Student Chapter (contact information below) with any questions. Dal CLA would love to hear your suggestions for the program or if you have any topics or events that you would like us to include in our next bulletin.
Thanks and best wishes!
