Applications are now open for the Professional Mentorship Program (PMP)!
About the program:
Each year, the Dalhousie Student Chapter of the Canadian Library Association pairs Dalhousie MLIS students with people working in the library and information management field to connect in a mentoring relationship.
This is a valuable experience for students and mentors alike. Students gain useful career insight, get to know members of the professional community, and strengthen their understanding of the field. Past mentors have found it rewarding to keep in touch with what current MLIS students are learning and to see the attitudes and interests they will be bringing to the workplace.
Dalhousie CLA will host a protocol meeting for student mentees (date: TBD), a launch event for the PMP on October 17, monthly bulletins with activity ideas, and group events throughout the school year. Students and their mentors can determine the frequency and activities of their meetings, such as a tour of the workplace, a chat over coffee, a resume review session, etc. We have received excellent feedback on the program in past years and we strongly recommend that you apply!
