“Copyright is an important issue for Canada’s research libraries. The sharing of information and knowledge is governed by copyright legislation, jurisprudence and licences. Knowing what is allowed from what is not is vital for librarians, students, faculty and researchers across Canada.”
– Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL)
No matter where you work or plan on working, it’s clear copyright will be an important issue you’ll need to be comfortable with and understand. Copyright impacts us as academics, professionals, consumers, and citizens.
To help you learn more about the importance of copyright, the Dalhousie Journal of Interdisciplinary Management and Dalhousie’s Canadian Association of Law Libraries Student Interest Group has organized a Copyright Workshop on Thursday, January 31st.
Designed for graduate students from the Faculty of Management but open to all, the workshop will feature copyright and intellectual property experts from the area. Presenters include Ian Colford and Jason MacDonald from Dalhousie Libraries’ Copyright Office, Mark Lewis, Reference/Information Technology Librarian from Dal’s Dunn Law Library, and Marc Belliveau, Intellectual Property Partner at Stewart McKelvey. Each will be focusing on a unique aspect of copyright and intellectual property laws and issues.
The workshop is being held in the Rowe, Room 3089 on Thursday, January 31 from 1:30-4:00. Bring your copyright questions for our experts!
Any questions about the event should be addressed to djim@dal.ca
