Summer student position:  SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR

Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: 30 hours weekly for 10 weeks

JOB SUMMARY:
Supports the Health Care professionals in the overall operations of HSHC. 

POSITION SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Highly organized, excellent client relations skills, excellent communications skills (including telephone etiquette), flexibility and independent initiative a must, able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Primary Special Project:

• Re-organize and maintain Library of health promotion materials including creating a Microsoft Access database of all books, pamphlets, videos, DVDs, etc, and appropriate re-ordering info.

2.   Administration:

• Ensure new clients have completed necessary intake information
• Assist with record keeping, scanning and filing
• Answer phone queries and schedule appointments for clinic

3.   Client Services:

• Act as a greeter for clients and respond to clinic questions
• Ensure flow of clinic by assisting clients through the process
• Ensure waiting room is maintained
• Input client information into Electronic Patient Records system

QUALIFICATIONS:
Service Canada requires that the successful applicant be:

• A full time student returning to full time study in the fall of 2011
• A Canadian citizen or permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Between the ages of 15 and 30

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other similar or related duties as necessary.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Must support the mandate of HSHC.   Understand and practice the principles of confidentiality, respect, non-judgement and inclusion.  A proficiency in computer technology is a must.  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Access is required.

SALARY:  $11.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay based on a 30 hour work week

HOURS:  We can be flexible with the hours, especially if the applicant has their own laptop.
