Our friends at Eyelevel Gallery have an exciting call for proposals!
The gallery invite
s proposals from printed matter artists working and living in HRM, for a 6-week creative residency. The focus of this residency is on the creation of a printed work drawing from archival material recovered from the gallery’s three-part archive system: Eyelevel’s archives at the Dalhousie Archives, Eyelevel’s A is for Archive online archives, and the gallery’s newly formed in-house archival laboratory The Inventions Library and Archives.
Check out the gallery’s submissions page for more details. The Dalhousie University Archives is the archival repository for Eyelevel Gallery. The Gallery’s archives include a wide variety of materials that document the gallery’s activities over the past four decades, including exhibition catalogues, artist files, and programming and publicity material. We can provide a detailed inventory of the gallery’s archival material.
The project is made possible through the HRM Residency Initiative, the same program that helped bring artist Will Robinson to the Killam Library this term. Will unveiled a prototype of his piece, Brutalist Song at an artist talk a few weeks ago. The final piece will be exhibited publicly later this year. In the meantime, we will be looking forward to hearing more about the RePrint residency at the Eyelevel Gallery!
