Sara Daley is a third year Bachelor of Management student. She started her education at Acadia University, pursuing a degree in Psychology, but realized that it wasn’t a career path she could see herself in. She spent a year working at a call center before beginning her Management degree. Sara has participated in a number of Employer Information sessions and Career Smart workshops, as well as the Accounting Networking Event and the C3 Mentoring Program.
“I have participated in nearly all the fall Career Smart workshops, as well as nearly all of the fall employer sessions for accounting firms. I also had the incredible opportunity to participate in the C3 Mentorship Program over the summer. I worked for Adsum for Women and Children as their Marketing Assistant Intern, while also working in their accounting department. This experience led to me securing a part time position at Adsum in an accounting role.
Through the employer sessions I have developed connections with various recruiters with whom I am able to continue to stay in touch. Through the C3 program I have an incredible mentor who has promised to continue to support me throughout my career.
My best piece of advice is sign up for events. Every time I have participated in something I have come away with a new skill or perspective that I can directly apply to my career development. Also find yourself a mentor. Someone who is already in the business world that you can go to for help; it’s just one of the most valuable things out there. That is something the C3 Mentorship Program provides.”
