For the fourth year in a row, Dalhousie was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers!
The recognition came from the annual report of employers published in the Globe and Mail. Dalhousie was among only five universities in the country to receive the prestigious recognition this year.
Sandra Dwyer, Human Resources Director for Dalhousie Libraries, had the honour of accepting the award on behalf of the University. Katherine Frank, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, was unable to attend, so other staff in the Human Resources Department were asked to recommend someone outside the main HR department, who does HR as part of their position. Sandra was nominated by Janice McInnis.
“It was quite an honor to be asked to accept the award on behalf of Dalhousie,” says Sandra “It was a thrill to attend the conference and the gala event.”
The award was presented at a gala event during the Top 100 Employer Summit in Vancouver. All the recipients were called on stage to accept the award on behalf of their institution and have their picture taken.
“For me the things that I love about working at Dalhousie are the opportunities, the benefits and the people,” says Sandra. “Dalhousie is a great university and I am proud to work here and to have studied here.”
Dalhousie University was nominated for the award by the University’s Human Resources Department. Any employer with its head office or principle place of business in Canada can apply – regardless of size or whether private or public sector.
2014 marked the 16th year for the national competition.
