Alba Stefani is a fourth-year Commerce student at Dalhousie who will be acting as the Management Career Services (MCS) Liaison for the Dalhousie Commerce Society this coming school year. While in this role, she plans to increase student engagement with the MCS career development resources and workshops that she herself has had great experiences with ever since her first year at Dalhousie:
“Three years ago I came to Halifax to attend the Commerce Co-op Program at Dalhousie University. I was excited to meet new people, learn and begin my university experience. I quickly realized that the Rowe School of Business had a lot to offer. In my first year at Dalhousie University I decided to take advantage of the various opportunities available for students. Since my first year, I have been a committed member of the Dalhousie Investment Society, participated in various case competitions and attended several networking events. “
These experiences lead to her becoming a Communications and Special Event Assistant with MCS while on her first co-op work term. Alba’s time working with MCS showed her how much they were involved with students and played a significant part in her decision to reconnect with MCS as a student society liaison:
“I was highly interested in taking on the role of the MCS Liaison for the Dalhousie Commerce Society (DCS). During my co-op, I created strong connections with the Career and Recruitment Specialists at MCS and I assisted in the planning and organization of the popular events such as the corporate tours and information sessions. Therefore, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work alongside the MCS team once again and I am confident that I will have a lot to offer within my role as the MCS Liaison.”
Alba is especially looking forward to strengthening the connection MCS has with first-year students:
“I hope to make a positive difference in the lives of Commerce and Management students through my role in the DCS. I plan on working with the MCS team to help improve their presence in the Rowe School of Business and to increase student engagement”
