Meet Callahan Murphy, a second year Management student who competed in last year’s annual Scotiabank Interview Competition and received the news that everyone applying for a job wants to hear, “You’re hired!” Here’s what Callahan gained from the experience:
“The Interview Competition was amazing practice for my interviewing skills. Having the opportunity to give eight elevator pitches to eight different judges in a day and receive feedback from each one was amazing to learn from, and a great way to get over my fears!
Competing in the Interview Competition provided me with a networking opportunity that helped me land a job. For the 25-minute interview round my interviewer worked for TD Bank. I was happy with my interview and I had a great conversation with him after the competition. A few weeks later I emailed him asking about opportunities at TD for the summer and he offered to be my reference!
For students interested in participating in the “You’re Hired” Interview Competition I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure there is not a single error in your resume and cover letter. For the interview rounds I really suggest to just be calm with it all and enjoy the experience.”
