The Bachelor of Management Internship Program is a wonderful opportunity to gain work experience, sought-after skills, and confidence that will differentiate you from other recent graduates. Mallory McKenzie is a 2013 Bachelor of Management graduate who took part in the Internship Program as a Project Coordinator at Summerhill. She is newly employed by RBC in the Career Launch Program. Mallory credits the internship experience with helping her to land her great new role with RBC.
Mallory says the highlight of her internship experience was, “having the opportunity to take ownership of my own tasks.” While she worked closely with the project managers, she also had the chance to work independently, planning a launch party for the Halifax Summerhill office, and analyzing over 1,000 consumer engagement surveys.
Mallory believes that despite the time commitment and effort required the Internship Program is definitely worth it.
“All things worthwhile take time. Your hard work will pay off twofold because you will gain valuable experience and knowledge that you can’t get in the classroom as well as marketable skills that will set you apart from other new graduates.”
Mallory feels that completing an 8 month internship was a valuable experience that gave her confidence when she entered the job market, helping to bolster her resume.
“I learned about myself, my work style, and what type of work I like doing, all of which helped to identify jobs that would be a good fit for me. Also, as an Internship Program participant, I learned how to thoroughly prepare for job interviews and present myself well.”
We’ll check in with Mallory again soon to learn more about her new job with RBC’s Career Launch Program.
