Bedford South School has been approved to participate in the HRM Placemaking Project. The purpose of this project is to create a piece of art in the back look, off Southgate, to celebrate their unique community, and reflect their commitment to being active. We are looking for students who are interested in sustainability, transportation and community outreach to help plan two community events to educate residents on the importance of walking and biking to school. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Self-directed, ability to work independently, & collaboratively with university partners
- Experience in bike maintenance is preferable
- Environmental Studies/Sustainability background is preferable
- Motivation to bring about social change on campus and in society
- Involvement and knowledge of the Dalhousie Student Union an asset
- Willing to work with Dal administration on Sustainability issues on campus
- Experience organizing volunteers and workshops is an asset
- Must be registered Dalhousie student during period of office
DESCRIPTION:
- Expected to work ~10hrs/week throughout the full year
- Will oversee and deliver Bike Centre projects and facilitate workshops for students
- Assist in organizing volunteer schedule for drop-in service at Bike Centre
- Collaborate with Bike Centre manager, university partners and DSUSO staff
- Work with Dal Communications to publicize Bike Centre

Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) invites applications for two Graduate Assistantship positions for PhD studies, to start in September 2013.
The Graduate Assistants will be expected to contribute in developing innovative approaches for the collection of travel and mobility data, travel behaviour analysis, travel demand forecasting, integrated transport-land use-emission modelling, and the estimation of sustainable transportation indicators.
DalTRAC is a multi-disciplinary transportation research unit, sponsored by the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, the Province of Nova Scotia, and the Halifax Regional Municipality. It is a new research facility dedicated to transportation studies, planning and policy analysis. The Graduate Assistants will be working under the supervision of Dr. Ahsan Habib.
