Have you been looking for a great opportunity to learn more about different industries and prospective career paths? We sat down with Greg Veinott from the Dalhousie Management Society to learn more about the Seven Speaker Series, which brings in industry leaders to talk to students about their career experience and potential job opportunities.
Q: Who can we expect to see during the Seven Speaker Series?
“This year we have a great line-up of speakers coming to Dalhousie! They include the COO of Roots Apparel, Wendy Bennison; Kevin McCrann, the VP of Ottawa Sports & Entertainment; Dick Pound, Former VP of the International Olympic Committee; Joe DiPenta, Stanley Cup winner/Organizer for Light the Night; and many more exciting people.”
Q: What is the format of the event?
“Each evening, with the exception of Wendy Bennison’s presentation on March 10, we will have two speakers presenting for approximately a half hour, with a short break in between speakers. This is followed by an opportunity for questions after each presentation. The event
will end with a networking reception, including food and beverages for all participants.”
Q: Is there anything new or different about the presentations planned for this year?
“The presentation from Wendy Bennison will be completely different from all of the other presentations during the series. Because Wendy has a whole evening to herself, we have created an informational interview-style presentation that will allow students to understand the key aspects of career development that Wendy believes are beneficial. Wendy’s expertise in the retail industry means that she is well-versed in what it takes to stand out from the competition in the job market.”
Q: What insight will students receive by attending these events?
“This is an opportunity that students can really leverage to better understand different career paths that are out there, what it takes to be successful, and how they can prepare themselves for the job market. These professionals will provide thoughtful insight into their lives and the Seven Speaker Series allows students to connect and meet some true leaders in the business world.”
No R.S.V.P. is required for the events; however, space is limited, so arriving early is recommended. Please see below for event dates, locations and times. See you there!
