Haley Tibbetts is a fourth year accounting student in the Bachelor of Commerce program who will be working as an Assurance Associate with PwC in Toronto upon graduation. She is currently the President and Co-Founder of Rowe WIBA.
Haley attributes her most rewarding experiences at Dalhousie to the student societies and extra curriculars that she has been involved with. In May 2015, she co-founded the Rowe School of Business – Women in Business Association with a classmate when they recognized the lack of a society within the Faculty of Management that focused on the importance of empowering women in business and the idea of diversity and inclusion in general. Since its founding, the society has grown to over 60 members, and we have hosted two Atlantic Women in Business conferences, as well as various speaking engagements with business professionals and leading women in business in the Halifax area.
Throughout the past four years, Haley has also been involved with Rowe JDCC as a member of the Accounting Case team, the BMO Millennial Leaders Advisory Council, the Dalhousie Commerce Society, and various other case competitions and volunteer initiatives.
Haley says, “I would encourage all students within the Faculty of Management to seek out societies and extracurricular activities on campus that interest you or that you are passionate about; if you recognize a gap, start your own initiative! My extracurricular involvement was definitely a major factor that helped me secure co-op jobs and post-grad employment with PwC. I guarantee that what you get involved with outside of the classroom will not only make you stand out to potential employers, but will also provide you will valuable skills that will benefit you long after you graduate”.
