When applying to jobs on myCareer where the posting directs you to the employer’s website to apply, it’s still important to submit your application through myCareer . Here are the top 5 reasons why you should make sure to submit your application to myCareer:
1. We Know What Interests You
Indicating you applied allows us to determine which types of opportunities and employers are of interest to our students. If you want more opportunities like the ones posted then we need to know our students are interested. We have limited time for employer development and we will spend more time on employers that offer opportunities our students have shown interest in.
2. Interview Scheduling Simplification
Should you be successful in obtaining an interview and the employer asks us to set an interview schedule you won’t be able to access the online interview schedule until you’ve manually applied to the job. This will delay your access to an interview schedule and ultimately your preferred interview time.
3. Access to Job Descriptions After Application Deadline
Once a job deadline passes you lose access to that job description unless you’ve applied for the job on myCareer. If you’re successful in getting an interview you’re going to want to be able to access that job description to prepare and that will only be available to you if you apply for the job on myCareer.
4. Access to Your Application
Once you have applied, the documents you used to apply will be saved in myCareer for your access at any time. The expectation is that you’re going to be customizing your applications for each position, so having a record of that document on file will allow you to see exactly which version of your resume and cover letter you used to apply for the job. To be successful in an interview it’s important to know what you’ve already told them about yourself.
5. Advising Assistance
If you’re struggling to find employment your Career and Recruitment Specialist (CRS) will refer to your job applications to try and identify where you might be having challenges. Having access to the applications you used for specific job opportunities helps your CRS to serve you better and provide targeted and specific advice relating to your applications.
