Meet Jonathon Bingeman, this year’s Commerce Co-op Student of the Year! Jonathon has demonstrated excellent performance during his 3 work terms at Deloitte LLP receiving high praise as an Analyst, Enterprise Risk Services. He has also made significant contributions on campus through his academic achievements, influence as a Teaching Assistant and many more. With a very deep appreciation for the co-op program and the value of work term experience, Jonathon has gone above and beyond our expectations making him our 2014 Co-op student of the year. Here’s what Jonathon had to say about his co-op experiences:
“While working in a professional services firm can be challenging at times, being able to take the concepts you learned in the classroom and apply them in real-world situations for your client/employer is definitely the most rewarding part of the co-op program.
For me, the best way to make the most of a work term is to get as involved as you can with your employer. Whether it’s staying late to help out a colleague or spending a few extra hours in the office to go that extra mile, it can really change your experience.”
For students starting their co-op education, Jonathon offers a simple piece of advice: “Network as much as you can – having an employer know who you are when you apply can go a long way.”
