This year marks the twelfth time the Professor Colleen Kiberd (Nursing) has been selected by the graduating class to receive the Student Appreciation Award. This award is given to a member of faculty who has touched each of the students’ lives as a supportive mentor, an exemplary teacher and an inspiration to strive for excellence.
Another tribute to Professor Kiberd by the Class of 2011 was the creation of the Colleen Kiberd Award. This award is given to a member of the graduating class who is viewed by their peers as compassionate, engaging, warm, generous and thoughtful – a leader with a great work ethic, sense of humour, an inspiration and support to others, a mentor and friend who demonstrates a love of nursing to his/her fellow students. The recipient of the inaugural Colleen Kiberd Award is Tammy Baxter.
Faculty and staff joined the students in a standing ovation for Professor Kieberd both when she received the Student Appreciation Award and when she presented the award created by the students in her honour.
