Ask A Scientist: a summer-long set of appearances featuring profs and students in high-traffic areas across the city. We set-up a booth and encourage people to come talk with scientists about their research and answer questions related to their fields. With this campaign we aim to humanize science and break down the “ivory tower” stereotype. We need more volunteers for our upcoming events on Friday August 3rd (Buskers Festival) and 18th (location TBC). If you or a graduate student of yours is interested in communicating science to the public please contact the facilitators of this event Shauna Bulman (shauna.bulman@dal.ca) and Niecole Comeau at (Niecole.comeau@dal.ca). They will share more details. We’ve been fortunate to have the following people participate so far: Kimberley Davies and Delphine Durette-Morin, Owen Sherwood and Yana Fedortchouk, and Jeff Simmons and Katherine Styrnatka. You can read about the campaign on Dal News:https://www.dal.ca/news/2018/06/06/curious–just-ask-a-scientist.html.
