When applying for work term positions using myCareer, it is smart to keep an eye on the status of those jobs to see whether or not you’ve successfully advanced to the next stage of the hiring process. Depending on the number of jobs you’ve applied for, you may be monitoring a long list of statuses. We often get questions from students who are not sure what the difference is between the Application Status and Internal Status posted for the jobs they’ve applied for, and what each status really means.
The main difference between Application Status and Internal Status is that Application Status indicates the student’s current standing in the hiring process whereas the Internal Status indicates the portion of the internal hiring process that MCS is facilitating with the employer. As a student, your focus should be primarily on your current Application Status. Refer to the table below to help you decipher what each status means for your job search standing.
