A great opportunity to gain real-life work experience and boost future employability; these are a few of the reasons why fourth-year Bachelor of Management student Jarred Reid says he decided to take part in the optional Bachelor of Management Internship Program.
Jarred recently completed an 8-month internship with PepsiCo. During his internship, he spent time working in both the Bedford and Dartmouth office, gaining experience on the food and beverage sides of PepsiCo’s business. His internship went so well that he’s since been offered a full-time position with PepsiCo upon his graduation this year.
Having the opportunity to take his learning experience beyond the classroom, Jarred says his internship allowed him to gain an understanding of the ways in which a multinational company functions on a day-to-day basis, and how the company works to plan and forecast sales. The most rewarding part? The sense of responsibility he had within his role, and the value of being a part of the company’s planning process.
On encouraging Management students to consider the program, he says the experience you gain “sets you apart from the crowd, and it complements your degree. The value placed on real work experience is very high and the more value you can add for yourself, the more attractive you become to potential employers.”
If the opportunity to make money, earn course credit and graduate with experience interests you, come out to the Bachelor of Management Internship Session this Thursday, January 19 at 11:45am (Rowe 5001). Find out more or register for the info session on myCareer.
