Christopher Dubois is a recent Dalhousie Bachelor of Commerce Co-op grad who has proven the success of co-op education to both employers and students. After completing a co-op work term with RBC Capital Markets, Christopher’s performance earned him the opportunity to participate in the organization’s Global Markets Summer Analyst program. And approximately six months prior to graduation, he was offered a full-time post-graduate role.
“I was able to secure my initial co-op with RBC through a posting on Dalhousie’s myCareer website. I applied and was fortunate enough to receive an interview and job offer. Following that work term, I secured a position with the Global Markets Summer Analyst program for my final co-op, and I will be joining RBC full-time fall 2016 as an Analyst in their Global Markets Program.”
Christopher’s fresh perspective, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn undoubtedly contributed to his success with RBC and ultimately landed him the post-grad job opportunity.
For an employer, not only can co-op students assist with your short-term goals and projects, but they provide the opportunity to test and even grow potential new-graduate hires before making a long-term commitment. Hiring co-op students affords employers the ability to train the student-employee while exposing them to the corporate culture, developing their ideal hire before the student graduates, contributing to a well-trained and well-informed workplace.
