Third year Commerce Student, Kyli Lane has been involved in the Accounting Society since her first year in 2010. Since joining the Accounting Society she has taken on the role of President and has participated in several accounting events. The most significant event during her term was the Accounting Week Kick-off event, held the second week of September 2012. This event offered Kyli and other students an exciting opportunity to network with various employers and to make some valuable connections.
“My involvement with the Accounting Society has provided me with many opportunities to further my networking skills and to grow my connections with employers, faculty members, and fellow students. I would encourage other students to attend accounting events and to meet as many employers and students as possible. Utilize the tools offered by Management Career Services to improve your cover letters and resumes. Try to participate in career development workshops and activities such as case competitions. If you are open to new experiences and get involved early, you’ll find that many different opportunities will come your way.”
