2011 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team
The 2011 team conceived, designed and built a very impressive car. Placing 37th in design out of 120 teams at Formula SAE Michigan 2011, the only overall downfall was that the car was not finished in time to do any intensive testing or driver training. A combination of untested components and lack of seat time resulted in the team placing 77th overall. Having a well designed existing car to iterate on and having 7 returning team members would set up the 2012 team for a shot at success at Michigan 2012.
2010 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team
The 2010 car was essentially a first year car similar to the 2007 car, as there were no returning team members and the team had to start from the ground up once again. The 2010 team put everything they had into the build, but really didn’t finish the car completely until the second day of competition. Although the car did not perform as hoped at competition, there was a good spread of students on the team and the knowledge gained at competition would inspire the team and put them well on their way for years to come.
2007 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team
The 2007 car was very impressive for a first year car. It was a relatively heavy car but was well designed and performed fairly well, competing in all events and even finishing the endurance race. The car received rookie car of the year at Formula SAE Michigan 2007 and the team was awarded a brand new Honda CBR 600RR engine, which was used as the powerplant of the cars of years to come. Unfortunately, most of the team members were in their final year and following competition the car was dissembled, all the members graduated and the project fell through the cracks for several years.
