With students returning from co-op work terms this winter, the Dalhousie Formula SAE Team is hoping to recruit new members for our team. The Formula SAE Team is a group of engineering students dedicated to the design,developement, and construction of a Formula-style race car to participate in the annual Formula SAE competition in Detroit, Michigan. Our team is a student run organization which prides itself on the pursuit of engineering excellence.
We are currently seeking new members for our 2010-2011 year. No experience is necessary, and all disciplines of engineering are welcome to join. Projects vary from mechanical, to electrical, to industrial, to management, so there is something for everyone! Cartesian Tube Profiling uses a unique CNC process to manufacture precision cut tube kits for a variety of applications. This process drastically decreases manufacturing times, and results in extremely tight tolerances (0.005″). The 2011 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team will be using Cartesian’s services to manufacture the frame of their competition vehicle. Formula SAE Night at the T-Room
The Dalhousie Formula SAE team will be hosting a benefit night at the T-room on Thursday, November 4th. The doors open at 9pm and there is a $3 cover charge. All proceeds go to the Formula SAE team, so invite all your friends and come show your support. Vehicle Safety Research Offers Sponsorship
The Vehicle Safety Research Team was established at Dalhousie University in 1973 and is directed by Dr. Robert Baird. The team is responsible for the collection and analysis of vehicle safety data for Transport Canada. The 2010-2011 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team is pleased to announce a silver level sponsorship from the VSRT. Engine Removal
The 2010-2011 Dalhousie Formula SAE Team made its first step toward the 2011 Formula SAE competition on Saturday, September 18th by removing the Honda CBR600rr engine from the 2009-2010 competition vehicle. The Honda powerplant is to become the heart and soul of the 2011 race car, and its removal offered the new team members a chance to get their hands dirty and experience what Formula SAE is all about.
