On Thursday, January 5, 2012, the School of Nursing held a reception to honour Dr. Donna Meagher-Stewart on the occasion of her retirement after 32 years of service. Donna has made countless contributions to the School, the University, and to the advancement of the discipline and profession of nursing. In her extensive academic and professional nursing career, she has demonstrated her committment to improving advanced practice in community/public health nursing, and in promoting population and public health system capacity through practice, research, education and policy initiatives.
Special thanks to Professor Susan Youden who provided a wonderful tribute in her review of Donna’s accomplishments throughout her career; to Ellen Duinker, Suzanne Foster and Cathy Sheffer who organized the reception; and to all who attended or sent best wishes. Donna will be missed as a teacher, researcher, mentor and friend – a visionary, leader and consummate professional. We wish her well as she embarks on “new beginnings” in her retirement with many happy days at “Tigh Na Mara.”
Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement Donna!!
Regards
Janet Curran
