Why were you interested in taking this course, Doing Business in Emerging Markets?
I was interested in Professor Trift’s course because of the experiential learning element and opportunity to travel. Similar to my participation in the Creative Destruction Lab, this course granted me the chance to work alongside an Atlantic Canadian company. Doing Business in Emerging Markets is not an ordinary course, and I didn’t want to miss out!
What do you expect to learn from your visit to Chile and Argentina?
I’ve never been to South America, so I expect that my visit will be eye-opening for both my personal and professional development. During my visit, I hope to draw on concepts highlighted in class to develop my understanding of complex issues that companies face while pursuing business opportunities in Latin America. I’m excited to be immersed in the culture, and expect that a significant portion of my learning will happen in the two weeks that I’m there.
How do you think this experience will impact your future career?
The impact of this experience on my future career will be positive in many ways. Already, it is helping me discover new career avenues. For instance, by being paired with IMP Aerospace and Defense, I’ve been introduced to different divisions and roles in the aerospace industry, a vertical that I was unfamiliar with before this course. In both formal and informal settings, I imagine I’ll always be excited to share my experience.
