What OpenThinkers Do
The goal of the OpenThink Initiative is in its name. This program opens up the thinking of Dalhousie’s PhD researchers to the world beyond the university. The program provides the training and platform needed to share ideas, innovations and research-based opinions.
What does it mean to be an OpenThinker?
Guided by communications experts from Dal, the University of King’s College and NATIONAL Public Relations, OpenThinkers receive training in how to reach public audiences and share their knowledge. They participate in a series of communications skill-building workshops on topics such as social media for researchers, blogging, pitching to the media, navigating interviews and infographic creation.
In return, they become ambassadors for graduate studies at Dal and for their own work by sharing their research and ideas via social media, blogs, public speaking opportunities, media interviews, articles and op-eds.
