When Josh Mitton began the Corporate Residency Master of Business Administration program at Dalhousie he never imagined that less than a year later he would be founder and president of his own company.
After completing his first year of study Josh was hired to do his corporate residency at Innovacorp, a company whose mission is to “find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world.” As a student entrepreneur in residence, Josh was tasked with conceptualizing and carrying out a business plan.
Josh launched PlatoPath in July 2014. An online repository of educational apps and games, PlatoPath strives to connect educators with available resources. In their own words:
PlatoPath seeks to engage students in the classroom and in the home by connecting key learning outcomes from K-12 curricula to a variety of apps and games available on the market.
We curate apps and games to ensure that educators and parents can find the highest quality educational tools available for their students and children, providing an engaging and experiential learning experience that is relevant for the 21st century.”
PlatoPath also encourages educators to submit lesson plans to the site. Once reviewed, the lesson plan is posted to the website for other educators to purchase. PlatoPath offers a 50/50 revenue share with lesson plan creators.
