On Wednesday May 15, 2013 DalTRAC will be hosting a Community Engagement session in Halifax for a “Share the Road” campaign in Nova Scotia.
All motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should feel safe using the road. What would make your local roads safer? What type of awareness campaign would be effective in your community? We want to hear from you!
Date: Wednesday May 15, 2013
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Exhibition Room, 5410 Spring Garden Road (Ralph M. Medjuck Building), Dalhousie University – Sexton Campus, Halifax
Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
A workshop will be held in HRM to explore options for improving road safety for all users. This session will present successful campaign examples and invite you to contribute ideas for how to make your streets safer for all users. This is a project of DalTRAC (Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory) and Dalhousie University with support from the Ecology Action Centre. Supporting partners include: the NS Department of Energy, Halifax Regional Municipality and the NS Road Safety Advisory Committee.
We look forward to seeing you!
Our Provincial Government is doing a Study to be completed this summer on the safety benefits of reduced speeds in our neighbourhoods. This will hopefully result in the Motor Vehicle Act being amended to permit municipalities to post speeds lower then 50k if they feel it will make our streets more user. 50km/h on our residential streets is too fast!
I was wondering if you can tell me if there is wheelchair access to this event?
@Meghan Richard: Yes, there is wheelchair access. Enter from the east side of the building. See you there!
I would like to attend but cannot, is there a digital forum where my ideas can be presented?
Hi Alan – definitely! You can post them to the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/570950102925407/ or via email to nk603580@dal.ca
Feel free to post concerns, and ideas for the campaign (including poster design, slogans, etc.)
Let us know if you have any questions.
