Anna and Matthew in Antigua
Anna Jacquart joined the Faculty of Management in 2017 as an academic advisor with the Undergraduate Advising Office (UAO). She shares her role with Colleen Van Doninck and works primarily with Commerce and Management students with last names starting with A to H. In the three years Anna has been part of the UAO, she has made many contributions to the team and students’ lives. In particular, they appreciate her ability to keep smiling through Dalhousie’s switch to virtual operations, while covering personnel shortages during the busy registration period. Anna’s resiliency and teamwork skills resulted in her well-deserved nomination for a Faculty of Management’s Staff Award this year.

Anna brings enthusiasm, positivity and a sense of calm to her students and coworkers. With her trusty cup of coffee, Anna begins her mornings with a daily meeting with the UAO team to go over student issues and information. Her days are filled with student appointments, emails and administrative responsibilities to ensure that our students progress through their programs with relative ease. By her side is her trusty pup, Ruby, making sure that she takes her breaks and goes for some adventurous walks throughout the day. Her advice for work/life blending is to break your day up to allow time away from the screen. She is diligent about logging off at the end of the workday (around 4:30) to make the transition to being home manageable.

Anna’s modelling debut
As Anna passes her third anniversary with the UAO, her advice to new employees is: “get to know people outside of your unit, get involved with your employee group events to build your Dalhousie network, and look for the many available learning opportunities.” When not working, Anna volunteers with Girl Guides of Canada as a Sparks Guider for 5- and 6-year-old girls. She also enjoys working on her first home’s garden, hiking, and taking walks with Matthew and Ruby. She grew up by the ocean and loves to be by the water. As a child she was a model with her home for an architecture magazine!
The global pandemic has opened Anna’s eyes to the need for leaders in the healthcare industry. Lately, you can find her spending time hitting the books as she prepares her application for the master’s in Health Administration program. Once COVID-19 subsides, she hopes to meet her goal of travelling to 30 countries before she turns 30. She has visited over 20 countries so far, and hopes travel returns over the next few years to fulfill this goal!
