Our friends at the Deanery Project have a lot going on this summer! Take a look at the events that they have planned!
Join the Deanery Seed-to-Soup challenge to support more food gardens on the Eastern Shore! Our goal is to get 20 teams of neighbours, co-workers, youth, club members, friends or families to combine their gardening space and skills to produce vegetables then make soup or preserves to share with groups or families chosen by team members. Teams will combine resources so you don’t need a lot of space to participate – you can grow a single plant in a container.
Are you just getting your garden started? It’s not too late to get involved and we can help. We have a variety of seeds like carrots, kale, beans and radishes that you still have time to grow. We also have seedlings for tomato, squash, pepper and more. Do you already have crops started? Consider dedicating some to Seed to Soup.In addition to gardeners and gardening space we are looking for people who want to help harvest and/or prepare vegetables for sharing through the winter. We invite you to get a group together and to record your journey through journals, pictures and/or videos. We can help connect people and support your garden with resources related to food, food production and health, gardening skills, recipes, ways to record your journey and more. We can also help you decide what to plant, how to maintain and harvest, where you want your soups to go, and how you will celebrate and share your harvest. If you would like to participate, or learn more about Seed to Soup, contact Mary Elizabeth at 902-845-1888 or by email at DeaneryS2S@gmail.com.
